Established in 2012, AudioCure Pharma is a biopharmaceutical company based in Berlin, Germany. We are dedicated to the development of novel pharmaceutical therapies to prevent or treat disorders of the inner ear.
Our focus is currently on two different types of hearing impairment. Firstly, we are developing a treatment for acute and chronic noise induced hearing loss; a disorder that is increasingly common as the world around us becomes noisier. Secondly, we are developing a preventative and a therapeutic drug for hearing loss caused by medications; a condition known as “drug-induced ototoxicity”. With more than 300 known ototoxic medications (prescription and over-the-counter) on the market today, this is an important and under-studied area of research. Both these therapies are currently in the preclinical development stage. This field represents a huge opportunity as there are currently no FDA or EMA approved drugs that either protect or restore hearing from noise damage or ototoxicity.
The development of drugs for other disorders of the inner ear and the vestibular system is also underway.
